Telefónicawatch – release #136

Featured insight: Ofcom investigating over years of potential billing errors

  • The UK’s regulator, Ofcom, is opening an investigation into O2 UK’s compliance with metering and billing obligations under General Condition C3.2, requiring communications providers to accurately bill customers.

  • Ofcom received notification from O2’s Approval Body that the operator experienced a Category 1 Extraordinary Performance Failure, involving duplicate direct debit payments.

  • Should an infringement be considered material (evidence-gathering expected to be completed by the end of 2019), the regulator can impose onerous remedies and significant fines.
