Our subject matter is broad and constantly evolving, encompassing every facet of the telecoms industry, business, and beyond. This is perfect for someone with insatiable curiosity and a wish for variety in their work.

This is an important role that will see us invest to develop you as a consummate reporter and writer and potentially in areas beyond, such as research, analysis and editorial.

The person

We are seeking candidates who as writers, analysts or reporters have proven themselves as creators of outstanding content for senior industry audiences.

We expect your standards and attention to detail to be exceptional, where every piece of content matters. You will know how to make the best of resources available to you — balancing unceasing pursuit of excellence against unrelenting deadlines.

You will be comfortable with a flat and often autonomous management structure, and a culture of collaboration and ongoing improvement. The following characteristics are sought:

  • Proven or clear potential strength communicating engagingly and writing accurately for a varied, senior and international business audience.
  • Intelligent, concise, and precise approach to content, consistent with house style.
  • Ability to filter and digest large amounts of research efficiently and objectively every day; demonstrate an analytic mindset; and nurture genuine interest in and knowledge of our industry (telecoms and technology) and the dynamics of business.
  • Information and data junkie, thorough in inquiry, and comfortable carrying out supplementary research.
  • Development and maintenance of a network of industry contacts, including interviews.

The role

  • Determine subject matter and undertake primary and secondary research by interviewing, attending events, seeking out records, reviewing written work.
  • Generate and develop ideas, context and perspective, analyses and commentary.
  • Write articles and features, create other content, and submit drafts to editors.
  • Select material for publication; check style, grammar, accuracy and legality of content; and arrange for any necessary revisions.
  • Liaise with production colleagues in checking final copy immediately prior to publication.
  • Build a strong understanding of our company, our industry and our clients.
  • Opportunities to attend briefings and industry events in the UK and internationally.
  • Huge scope for personal development and learning new skills, with opportunities to be involved in other areas of the business.

Attributes and skills preferred

  • Ideally educated at least to degree level.
  • Independent, reliable self-starter with ability to use your own initiative.
  • Unceasing attention to detail and time management, highly organised, and obsessed with meeting deadlines. Taking ownership and pride in your work and ‘stepping up’ when necessary.
  • Mindset of excellence — total quality and continual improvement. Keen and quick to learn and adapt; and welcoming of feedback.
  • Excellent team player and committed to achieving and exceeding company as well as personal goals.
  • Adept at computer- and online-working across a wide and evolving set of tools and systems, including Microsoft Office/Word and content management systems.
  • Experience in a b2b content/editorial role.
  • Telecom industry experience and domain knowledge.
  • Data and financial literacy.
  • Outputs will be in English, but additional strong language capabilities are valued, particularly German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
