  • The NEC subsidiary trumpeted its role in Telefónica’s German digitalisation with a new contract to upgrade and simplify customer and partner engagement.

Telefónica Deutschland (O2 Germany) selected NEC Corporation subsidiary Netcracker Technology’s next-generation business support systems (BSS) platform to help support its digital transformation programme.

The partners said the project will support O2 Germany in updating its digital customer and business enablement processes, and, by extension, provide the operator’s business and residential customers with personalised and contextual services and interactions across all channels. Underpinning future customer information management, order management, and product catalogue services, the Netcracker solutions will also help Telefónica integrate and manage bundled offerings including services provided by external partners.

Netcracker emphasised that the latest contract will see it play a key role in Telefónica’s local digitalisation programme. It also highlighted that its solutions comprise a “cloud-native, single, convergent architecture” that it said will help to reduce time to market for the operator’s digital services, while standardising procedures for digital customer engagement.

In welcoming the deal, Guido Eidmann, Chief Information Officer at Telefónica Deutschland, described the NEC-owned vendor as a “strong partner” in the operating business’s efforts to make its support systems “simpler, faster, and better.”
