BT Enterprise updated and rebranded its cloud phone platform with support from RingCentral, a US-based provider of cloud unified communications services for businesses. The “mobile-first” solution, which is hosted by RingCentral and is now called BT Cloud Work, offers enterprise users voice, conferencing, and collaboration capabilities for medium and large enterprise customers.

BT’s relationship with RingCentral stretches back to March 2008, when the erstwhile BT Business partnered with the latter to launch a virtual web-based phone system, called BT RingCentral, to offer call management and PBX features, voicemail, and internet fax capabilities without the need for onsite hardware installation (BTwatch, #2008.02). In July 2014, RingCentral revealed a distribution deal with BT Business for the operator to resell its cloud-based communications platform from 2015 (BTwatch, #258). In March 2015, BT Business launched BT Cloud Phone, based on RingCentral’s cloud communications platform (BTwatch, #265).

The upgraded solution, which was previously called BT Cloud Phone, is said to feature: improved flexibility and productivity with a single, integrated telephone number; a single business identity enabling enterprises to manage multiple office locations, create an auto receptionist, route calls, and manage directory listings; and access to a professional services support team to assist with planning, implementation, integration, and ongoing support.
